BDIPS Hosts Skills-Based Training in Collaboration with A World Fit for Kids!
In collaboration with A World Fit for Kids!, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit organization that supports the development of youth, BDIPS hosted a series of training sessions aimed at equipping A World Fit For Kids! staff with resources and tools for working with children. BDIPS designs the training based on the needs of A World Fit for Kids! staff.
BDIPS program managers and corporate personnel led six different modules that covered a variety of topics such as navigating team tensions, supporting staff when they are struggling and having hard conversations.
Using role play activities, A World Fit for Kids! coaches practiced how to address difficult topics with the kids they work with, and participated in mock work conflict scenarios such as managing to support kids while not letting team conflict impact them.
“They've all asked for this kind of content. It's super relatable. It's important and relevant,” shared Yackie Davila, program director of Quality and Performance at A World Fit for Kids!
In addition to engaging in the training sessions, A World Fit for Kids! staff also participated in a wellness boxing session led by BDIPS Chief Health and Wellness Officer Ramon Jauregui and Health and Wellness Manager Angel Jauregui.
BDIPS CEO Darryl Sewell chatted with participants in the training who shared that they enjoyed the training and learned a lot of techniques they can implement when working with kids.
The boxing session demonstrated how BDIPS utilizes therapeutic boxing as a tool for helping youth control and express their emotions in a healthy way. In pairs, A World Fit for Kids! staff learned different boxing combinations and defense stances.
This BDIPS collaboration with A World Fit for Kids! is just one way the two organizations are partnering. In the coming months, BDIPS will begin training with A World Fit for Kids! staff by providing boxing sessions in 13 schools in partnership with their after-school program.
