Dozens of residents of Acclaim at Baldwin Village showed off their costumes at Fall Fest, a community event hosted by BDIPS in partnership with Avanath Capital on Oct. 31.
“Even under the threat of rain, the community came out and the kid attendance almost doubled adult attendance. Kids played musical chairs while the adults had an opportunity to meet each other and have a meal with their neighbor,” said Vanessa Godoy, Development and Operations Program Manager at BDIPS. “At Better Days we hope to bring more opportunities for families to get together.”
Children and families participated in games, raffles, face painting and a costume contest. BDIPS and Avanath staff monitored game stations and distributed food at the nacho bar. The event was a collaborative effort, with BDIPS, Avanath Capital and event sponsors Laquita Smith and Percy Pearson joining in on the fun.
“Our role as a sponsor is to help bring the community together by supporting events that create positive experiences for families,” said Smith. “We believe it’s important to invest in our communities because events like Fall Fest build relationships, create lasting memories, and provide a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.”
Fall Fest is one of several community events BDIPS has hosted alongside Avanath Capital this year, but the goal is to continue the partnership beyond community events. The two organizations hope to bring an after school program to the site, similar to Northpointe.
“We believe that supporting organizations like BDIPS is important because they are doing meaningful work directly within the community,” Smith continued. “By partnering with organizations that understand the needs of residents, we can help strengthen their efforts, expand opportunities, and make a lasting impact beyond just one event.”
For now, BDIPS continues to support the community by bringing resources and fun to the residents of Acclaim at Baldwin Village.
